The sweetest thing!
Tonight, after we'd read a couple Beatrix Potter stories, Davey and I were snuggling in the dark in the cozy rocking chair. I said, "You know what David? You make me so happy!"
At that he smiled and then started babbling something. It took me a moment to realize he was singing... he sang, "You are my sunshine," to me. Three times.
Sweet boy!

"Jemma is FUN!"
Okay, Hawaii is fun, too! Davey is making friends with Jemma Sutton while on vacation. Jemma and her parents, Jessica and Mike, are on vacation at the same time and staying nearby. Today they played together a bit in the morning and then they all came over for dinner and Toy Story tonight. After she left in the morning Davey said, "Jemma is FUN," while raising his hands high in the air and with great excitement! Jemma is six months older, is very verbal and straightforward with her wishes. What a cutie!
Tomorrow we'll all go swimming together and, if all goes well, they will stay in with her baby sitter for a few hours in the evening while we adults go out to a nice dinner.
Today Mark, Davey and I went for a drive up the East Coast to the northern town of Hawi, then over a volcanic ridgeline to Waimea and then back down to Kona via a highway with a higher vantage point of the East Coast. At Hawi we grabbed an ice cream for Mark and I to share from Tropical Dreams. It was Tahitian Vanilla Bean and Macadamia Nut and surely one of the best ice creams either Mark or I had ever had in our lives. If you're on the Big Island and like ice cream, do NOT MISS this treat!
On the drive to Waimea we had some gorgeous views:
In Waimea we went to a local food court and had a Korean lunch (bi bim bap) that was tasty and artery clogging. I'd eat it again though!
On the way back to Kona we stopped to take a photo of Mauna Kea and noted, "Jesus, it is so windy we can't believe it." It has been HOWLING wind since we arrived nearly everywhere we've been! There was a respite in Waimea today (where it was drizzling) and yesterday a little at the beach in downtown Kona. Other than that: howling. Here's a video of what we mean, taken at the spot where we wanted a photo of Mauna Kea:
Tomorrow we move from the condo to a house a few miles away. Mom says it's gorgeous and we're looking forward to it (and the secluded beach it provides).

Successful Plane Ride !
Check out DJ Davey on the flight from SFO to Honolulu! All in all, Davey traveled pretty darned well. Especially granted that he was puking most of the previous night, much to our horror.
Now we're on Hawaii, enjoying the change of locale with Mom and Michael.
Aloha!
